Is depression mostly caused by insufficient yang energy?

Most of the patients with depression I have diagnosed and treated recently have been experiencing a clear, watery nasal discharge. Conventional approaches for addressing Lung Qi deficiency with cold have proven largely ineffective—the symptom persists without any obvious relief, and it isn’t attributable to spring allergies, which is rather puzzling.

After careful reflection, I have come to the conclusion that depression is, in most cases, rooted in insufficient Yang Qi or the failure of Yang to diffuse outward. Even though deficiency-cold patterns may manifest, the treatment strategy differs from the standard approach. Today I have decided to begin by addressing Kidney Yang, incorporating herbs that warmly tonify Kidney Yang, and will observe the results.
